In connection with the shortage of rennet, -which is such an essential in cheese manufacture, practical steps an being taken to utilise the calves' veils that are now going to -waste in the Dominion. A demonstration, the first of a series to be held throughout New Zealand, was held at Bell Block yesterday, on Mr. L. ConiU'tt's property, by llr. Munro, Departmental Inspector of Stock, which was attended by a number of farmers, who took keen interest in the taking and preserving of the veils from the six calves that were utilised. The local stock inspectors -will organise similar demonstrations throughout Taranaki. "The Christian" will be shown at the Theatre Royal to-night for the last time; in New Plymouth. To-night at the Empire Picture Palace a new film programme will be shown, particulars of which appear in our advertising columns.
