Midshipmen from the Japanese warships were watching the skill and intelligence with which a sheep dog worked a small flock of sheep at Mr. Speedy's station in the Wairarapa on Tuesday afternoon. A section of the flock was cut off and chased away for some distance, when the dog was sent out to round them up and bring them back again. While so engaged, Mr. Speedy put the dog through its paces, and by certain whistles made it stop, lie down, recommence work, all of which it did without a mistake. "Clever most clever dog, that one," commented one of the visitors. "That dog, he the officer; that sheep, them the men; him with the whistle, the general. All the same as our army!" A sneeze leads to a Cough. SYKES'S CUIiA COUGH leads tc a Cure. Is 6d, all stores.
