A HEATED ARGUMENT.
LEADS TO DEATH BLOW. By Te'egraph.—Press Association. Christeliurcli, Last Night. A tragic affair occurred in Casliel Street, near the Cafe de Paris Hotel, yesterday afternoon, resulting in the death of Frcdori.'-k William Allen, laborer, aged •12, residing in Madras Street. Allett and Private, Michael Carey, of the ifltli Reinforcements, wlio was on final leiive, were engaged in a heated argument, Carey apparently suggesting that Allen was a shirker. The upshot was that Carey hit Allen three times in the face. Allen did not retaliate, l>ut stood with his hands in his pockets, looking at his assailant. A constable, went up to 'he soldier for the purpose of arresting him, but, before he could do so, Carey dealt Allen another smashing blow on (he jaw and knocked him down like >: log, the back of hi 3 head striking the ashpalt with tremendous force, rendering him unconscious. Allen died in the hospital early this morning. At the time of the assault both men were pe> fectly sober. Allen was a big, heavy man. Carey is under arrest.
