Nelson, July 13. At the inquiry into the loss of the scow Southern Isle the finding was that the actual cause of the disaster is unknown, but the probable cause is that, having met with heavy weather, the hatches became unsecured and may have been washed out and the ship foundered owing to shipping seas through the open hatches.
