ANNUAL CONFERENCE. }Yellington, July 11. The annual conference of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations opened to-day. In his presidential address Mr. \V. Perry stated that the commandeering and fixing the price of meat had worked very satisfactorily, but .he same, could not be said of wheat and chaff products They should he satisfied with the result of Government action to secure adequate .shipping. One of the biggest problems was that of ibsording into the most fitting occupations returned soldiers. He hoped the conference would show strongly its sympathy with the project for securing good land for every soldier capable of working it. The Minister of Agriculture addressed the conference and said that fresh legislation this year was out of the question. It was necessary that production should be kept high, and consequently the department was prepared to give every advice to the man on the land. Mr. W. D. Hunt (Southland! was elected president.
