ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

m WHILE UNDER ARREST. Paimerston N., Last Night. Willielm Julius Larsen, who was arrested to-day for failing to maintain bis wife and family in tlie Auckland district, attempted to take the contents of a bottle of poison on his way to the police station. Larsen swallowed a Uittle before the constable prevented him, and in the struggle Uie bottle was broken, and a quantity of the liquid burnt Constable Culloty's left eye. He, however, brought the man to the police station, where a doctor administered an emetic to Larsen, who quickly recovered. Tt is thought the constable will not suffer any permanent injury.
