The market is firm, largely owing to the smallness of the world's shipments, especially for England. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD.'S REPORT. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co,, Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: On Thursday, June 22, we held our usual Kohuratahi sale and although the roads were very bad, owing to the wet weather prevailing at the time, we had a fair yarding, and cleared most lines |at advanced prices. Lambs, medium quality, brought 17s lid, 20-month steers £0 to £7, fresh store cows £7 to £B. Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held on Thursday, July 20. On the same day we held a clearing sale on account of J. McFadgon, Esq',, Cardiff, and had a very large attendance of the public although the day was wet. The implements were a credit to Mr. MeFadgen, ns also were the stock, and everything was cleared under keen competition, at very full values, The following are the prices some of the lines realised:—Trewhella jack £2 7s Gd, horse scoop Ms, chain harrows from £4 to £0 "s Od, Wood's grass mower £9 10s, hay rake £6 10s, ploughs £4 2s fld to £l3, tine harrrws 375, reaper and binder £lO, gig £ls 15s, half-draught horses £22 to £3G, half-draught yearling £lO 2s Od, brakes from £22 lbs to £24, lambs 22s lid, sows £5 10s, store pigs 30s Od, 2-year old heifers £7 17s fid, yearling heifers 435, store cows made from £S to £O, cows showing quality langcd from £lO to £lO 10s. On Friday, June 23, we held our usual monthly sale at the Te Wera yards. There was a small yarding, but everything was cleared at full value. Kig'i-teen-month steers, small, brought £5 4s, 18-month heifers £4, wcaner heifers 35s to 41s, ewes and wethers, mi.ved, 255. Our next Te Wera sale will be held on Friday, July 21. On Saturday, June 24, we held a clearing SRle on account of Alex Tnnos, Esq., Tututawa, at our Stratford yards, There was a very large attendance of the public, and very keen competition for both sundries and cows. Prices: Brake £lO, horses, light, £2 to £4 129 Od. sows 33s to £4 2s Od, store pigs 18s Od to 20s, slips fls to 11a, Shorthorn bull £9, Jersey bull £7 5,}, aged cows £7 10s to £9 15s, good cows £lO to £ls ss, i.e. heifers, 2-year old, £4 10s to £7 On June 24, we held our horse sale at Stratford yards and had a small yarding of 3ft horses, the majority of which were sold above owners' reserves. Light hack and harness horses £3 to £7 ss, medium horses, suitable for farm work, £l2 to £lB, milk carters £2O to £3l. Our next horse sale will be held on August 26. On Tuesday, June 27, we held our usual fortnightly sale at our Stratford yards, when we yarded 1320 sheep and 420 cattle, nearly all of which were sold at full current values under keen competition. F.m. ewes, i.l. 23s (id to 25s Sd. empty ewes 22s /Id, cull lambs I2s 4d, 12s Od, medium 10s 5d to 10s, store cows, lean and small, £4 Rs, £5 15s, forward cows. £fi 12s Od to £8 lis, fat cows £0 to £lO 10s, weaner heifers 35s to 4Ss Od, yearling steers 03s od to 65s fld, yearling heifers 03s od, 2-year' old i.e. heifers £5 10s, dairy cows, late calvers, £9 to £9 17s Gd, bulls £4 5s to £lO ss. Our next sale at this point will be held on July 11. On Friday, June, 30, we held our usual monthly sale at Tarata yards, when we had a small yarding of 390 sheen and 150 cattle, all of which were sold at full values. Ewes, i.l. 2, 4, and 0-tooth, up to 31s 7d, woolly lambs 23s 2d, weaner steers 60s, weaner heifers 55s to 58s, 20-month steers £4 lfis fld to £5 3s, 3year old i.e. heifers £8 Is, dairy cows '£lo ss, store cows £fi 6s to £7 13s ad. Our next sale at Tarata will be held on July 20. Since we last reported we have sold a considerable amount of stock in the paddocks. Wethers up to 28s, fat ewes 30s, i.l. ewes up to 30s, 21-year empty heifers £0 3s to £0 7s Od, store cows £5 17s Od to £0 12s Od, 2-year steers up to £0 10s, 20-month steers £5, hulloeks from £lO to £l2, dairy cows, in lines, £l2 to £l2 10s, yearling steers up to 00s. We held our usual monthly wool, skin .-Did hide sale on Tuesday, .lime 27. We had a fair catalogue of 98 packages of wool, and a large number of sheepskins, hides, etc. The attendance of buyers was good, and the competition for all lines keen throughout. Crutchings wool sold extremely well, and vendors should he more than pleased with prices obtained.. Sheepskins also sold at a decided rise, and hides and tallow sold at advanced prices. The following prices were obtained: — Wool: Fleece Is OJd, pari; black O'/jd to 10d, fleece, part lambs, bidi, 9]d, fleece, part lambs. lOd, lambs Is, lambs, bidi, (id to 7d, crutchings Is 'o>d to Is Ojd, fleece, dead, part crutchings lO'/od. Sheepskins: X-bred, full woolled, IOJd, lid, 11'/.d, medium woolled lOd to IO.Jd, torn HJd to Old. lambs 9}d, butchers 'JIM to 11-Id, salted skins 3s 7d, salted lambs 2s 3d. Hides: Butchers' cow IOJd to 10[d, cowhides fl.ld to lOd, steer bide 9d, year: l.ngs 7s to Bs, calfskins, cut, Od, calfskins lUd to lß'd, slippy 7d. Tallow, in tins, 20s 3d. Bones 4s ewt Our next sale will be held on Tuesday, .•uly 25. On Thursday, July fi, we held a clear-' in<: sale on account of Messrs. Inglis Bros, and Tlios. Inglis at their homestead, East road, Toko, when there wa,s a large attendance of the public, and good prices were obtained for stock and sundries. Owing to the large number, of sundries and cows to be sold it was found impossible to get through in the one day. r ilios.
