THEATRICAL ENTERPRISE.
*m EMPIRE THEATBE TO BE REMODELLED. The directors of the Taranaki Amusements Ltd., met Mr. Hugh Grierson, the company's architect yesterday afternoon, and considered plans, for the remodelling of the Empire Theatre. The plans provide for an additional entrance to the dress circle, the removal of the operating box outside the circle, the increase and entire remodelling of the circle, the lifting of the roof and the providing of a dome over the auditorium, the repainting- and decorating of the interior and the instituting of a new system of electric lighting throughout. The plans were approved and tenders will be called for the work in the course of a fortnight. The theatre will also 'be re-seated throughout with the latest type of theatrical seats. .WAITAEA'S NEW THEATRE. The plans of the company's new th*» atre at Waitara wore also considered. They provide for a building which would do credit to a city. Accommodation is provided for 030, and the building is designed to admit of enlargement at any time. The plans were approved, and tenders will be called for the work the week after next.
