FOOTBALL.
OEWAR BENEFIT. The proceeds of the match to be p1..,y----ed to-day at the racecourse between Xew Plymouth High School A and Xew Plymouth Senior Cadets will be given to the Dewar fund, which is being raised to assist the mother of the late Sergt. Dewar, the well-known and popular Taranaki representative who lost his life while fighting for his country at Oallipoli. Mrs. Dewa: 1 has been left in rather straitened circumstances, and as the provision made by the Pensions Board is not sufficient to support her in anything like, comfort, it is proposed to augment this. Ey attending to-day's match, football enthusiasts can show their respect to the memory of the late "Norky" Dewav and also assist his widowed mother. The following will represent Senior cadets:—Prior. Tuohy, Sykes. Singh, Mack, McMillan, Bridger, Sims, Crone, Ardern, Horsnell. McGany, Hurlsfone, DeaiM, Way. Hawes and Horsup. N.P. HIGH SCHOOL v. WAXGANUI TECHNICAL COLLEGE. The two great fooJ.haU attractions of Hum era Show Week, viz., Taranaki v. Wellington and Taranaki v. Wanganui. have perforce to be abandoned this year owing to the effect the war has had on the grand old game owing to so many footballers having done their duty by enlisting. Patrons of the show, howeevr, will not be robbed of the opportunity of witnessing an interesting matcli, as an inter-collegiate match has been arranged for Saturday between Xeiv Plymouth High School and Wanganui Technical College. School football is noted for the brightness of its play, and additional interest is added to this match owing to High School having pat up such a fine performance against Te Ante College.
