GENERAL CABLES.

SUEZ DUES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London. July 4. Suez Canal dues will be further advanced on October 5. WIRELESS TIME SIGNALS. Sydney. July 5. The Government Astronomer has submitted a proposal to the Premier for fixing the longtitude of the Pacific Islands by means of astronomical observations combined with wireless time signals. It is proposed to compare Sydney either with Suva or Apia by means of the wireless time cernicr at Awanui, then compare Suva with the Lick Observatory, California, by means of the vernier at Honolulu. This would make possible a chain of wireless time signals round the world for the navigators.
