KAIMATA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) We have been treated to quite a nnm'•cr of pleasiint evenings during the past month. The first being a patriotic social mid send-off to Messrs. 0. Capper and R. Weston, at which there were 55 couples present. Dancing was kept up till the small lfour.3 of the morning. During the evening songs and speeches were given, which were much appreciated.. Mr. 0. Mackie, on behalf of the ladies, made a fitting speech, and called on Mr. T. Hamerton, of Inglewood, to present Messrs G. Capper and K. Weston with a set of field glasses as small token of appreciation of {he services they were about to render to their country and Empire. Mr. T. Hamerton, in a few neat words, made the presentation, amid much cheering and sing, ing of '-For They are Jolly Good Fellows.'' Farmers of this district are supplying at present the Moa creamery, the cheese factory being closed down for repairs to the boiler. The suppliers of the cheese factory have received up fc) the present, Is 3d foj butter fat supplied, and are likely to receive another 4d or 4Jd latei, which fact speaks well for the chairman's (Mi. (j. Capper's) management The farmers of this district are busy feeding their stock, which are looking well for this time of the year. The swede crops are reported as good. T regret to have to announce the death of Mr Ceo. Peters, daughter of Mr. G. Mackie, of this district. Mr. Peters, and Mr. and Mrs. Mackie have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. We are about to lose Mr. •). Dunwondie from oui midst. We wish him g(td luck. Mr. F Braoegirdle has received several letters from his two sons at the front stating that they have been in some engagements Mid are quite well. Mr. C. Dobson had the misfortune to meet with an accident to his motor car, breaking the two front avles owing to the steering gear going wrong. I'ortnnatelv. Mr. Dobson escaped any injury other than a shaking. The Farmers' Co-op. opening sale at Tnglewood was a great success, and resulted in a £5500 sale. The farmers of Kaimata having shares in the Society speak in high praise of the new yards.
