DAIRY PRODUCE.
AT THE DOMINION SHOW. A SPLENDID EXHIBIT. As is only to be expected in tlie chief town of a district whose staple industry is dairying, tliere is a splendid entry of butter and cheese in the dairy produce section at the Hawera Winter Show. The exhibits are very attractively staged in the dairy produce hall, the cheese and butter being admirably set off by the pot plants and valuable trophies, which are tastefully interspersed. Numerically, the entries in this section are not as strong as at some previous show, but the quality is. if anything;, superior. Factories from all parts of the North Island, and several from the South Island are represented in the 77 cheese and -113 butter exhibits. Regarding the cheese, the judges (members of the Government Dairy 'Division staff) express themselves as well pleased with its quality, which is extra good, and also with the excellence of the finish, which reflects great cicdit on the care bestowed by the Haweru Dairy Co.'s stall', at whose factory the exhibit was stored. In cheese, Tarauaki factories won practically all the prizes, Kakaramca being the most successful, with two first prizes, three trophies, two seconds and two thirds. Cardiff secures two firsts, a special and a second, whilst Hawera obtains a first, a special, two seconds and a third, and Eiverdalc obtains a first and a third. Belvedere (Wairarapa), with a first, a special, a second snd a third, is the principal outside factory to score. Cardiff has won the Taranaki championship twice in succession. Butter is also of excellent quality, there being a remarkable evenness shown. Levin repeated last year's performance by winning in the three open classes; Kairanga lias two seconds; Ballance a second and third, and Te Aroha and North Taranaki each a third, Tn the class for Tarauaki only, Moa wins [ the championship.
