THE STRUGGLE FOR THIAUMONT.
GERMANS RE-TAKE FORTIFICA- ' TIONS. Received July 2, 11.45 p.m. Paris, July 2. A communique states: On the left bank of the Meuse the enemy made four violent attack's on both sides of Hill 304. Three were, blooodily repulsed, but in the fourth the Germans rc-took the fortified work. We captured yesterday the trenches east of Hill 304, and in our counter-at-tacks regained everything on the right bank. There was a desperate struggle for the possession of Thiauiiiont redoubt, which the Germans again penetrated. The redoubt was a complete wreck, but wc established ourselves in the immediate approaches.
