CHARGE OF CATTLESTEALING.
ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Taumaninui, June 29. James Binns, of Maticre, was charged at Taumarmmi to-day with cattle-steal-ing. Sergeant Miller prosecuted and Mr. Finlay defended. Evidence was given that two steers owned by A. S. Baker, of Matiere, were stolen and the earmarks tampered with. Accused pleaded not guilty and reserved his defence. He was committed for trial to Hamilton, bail being fixed at £2OO. John Kelly, senior, was charged with aiding and abetting, but the case was withdraw non the application of the police.
