AMPLE REINFORCEMENTS. Melbourne, June 30. Mr. Pearee has denied that the Commonwealth promised to supply 300,000 troops by the end of June. He stated that the assertion had only been made by the Press and never officially. He added that to date there had always been sufficient reinforcements available.

Referring to a request from Australians in England for permission to join the Australian Expeditionary Forces there he said that the Cabinet had decided not to accede to the request. NEW ZEALANDERS PRAISED. Albany, Juno 30 Welcoming the Governor-General, the Mayor paid a tribute to the gentlemanly and soldierly .conduct of the New Zealand troops who called there on their way to the front. The Governor promised to convev the reference to the Dominion.
