RED CROSS DAY.
APPEAL TO NEW ZEALAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington., Yesterday. The Governor has received a telegraphic appeal from the Marquis of Lansdowne and the Earl of Plymouth, (■"presenting the British Red' Cross Society in England, asking the people of Now Zealand to participate in the collection in aid of the Red Cross funds on "Our Bay," which has been fixed for October 10th. The money received will he devoted entirely to the Wounded Soldiers' and Sailors at the various seats of war. His Excellency hopes the appeal will meet with the same generous response as did his appeal last y«iir, wf.vi: the Dominion's contribution amounted to £17,084. It is requested that all sums collected should be sent to the Under-Secretary, Department of Intwnal Affairs, for transmission to the Marquis of Lansdowne.
