BOROUGH COUNCIL.
WORKS COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Works Committee of the Council was held last night. Prtsent: His Worship the Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess), Crs. Medley, Hayden, E. Wilson, Collis. Monteath, Short, Hill! Mannix, Watkina, and Johnstone. Leave of absence was granted to Cr. Griffiths. '•
Plans Rnd specifications for the alteration and furnishing of the new municipal offices as prepared by the architect (Mr. Messenger), werg, approved, subject to slight amendment, nnd tender* will be invitod for the work.
The report of the Sub-Commrttt* with reference to the, A.MJ?. uaUL anA support of footpath in Devon Street was adopted, Considerttion of tlu» letter- from Mr. R. D. Colson with reference to his pronosed new building wns deferred until the Council have individually viewed the site.
That the Borough engineer be, authorised to kerb and channel the footpath in Weymouth Street, from Young Street to St, Aubyn Street, and to make up the footpatli with, gaol gr»vel That the Tarannki hospital Board" be notified to instal a water meter at the Hospital buildings. The electrical engineer was authorised to instal the following street lights: Two at Devon Street extension, Xormati Street, Barret Street, Cutfleld Road, Weymouth and Aubrey' Street*, Chilman Street, Bois Road', Frankley Road, near entrance to Frankleigh Park. Tli*t Mr< K. W. Williams be informed that the Council cannot s«j its way to remit the license, fee for the Mntva Tea Kiosk used for euchre parties and dances. That a copy of Mr. Skitrop's letter regarding Cutfield Road be forwarded to Mr. Wilson, and lie be informed that the funds available are only suflloient to complete the road from South Road to Devon Street.
