THE 18ths' LEAVE,
A HEARTY SEND-OFF.
There was a large attendance at the railway station yesterday morning to farewell the men from "the New Plymouth district for the 18th Reinforcements. The recruits assembled at the Old Drill Hall at half-past si« and marched to the Women's' Patriotic Depot, where coffee was kindly provided by the Mayoress (Mr. C. H. Burgess). A brief address was given by the Mayor, and three hearty cheers were accorded the men. In the interval before the train left, bright selections were played* by the Citizens' Band, and when the train pulled awav it was to the accompaniment of "Auld Lang Syne" by the band, much tooting of whistles, and resounding cheers from the crowd.
