IN THE AIR.
BOMBS ON VENICE. Received June 25, 5.3 p.m. Rome, June 24. Aeroplanes bombed Venice, six people being killed. A SERIOUS ALLEGATION. MR. BILLING ON'THE AIR SERVICE. Received June 24, 5." p.m. London, June 23. Mr. Pemberton Billing, M.P., at an ail enquiry, alleged that a naval airman, an associated officer of the Royal Flying Corps, who had fallen into the sea, was reprimanded by the officer commanding, who said that Royal Flying Corps men had no right to fly over the sea. The officer added: "If they fail into the sea. let them drown." He ordered the aviator six days' extra duty because he seemed so fond of work.
Mr. Billing added: "On the occasion of a Zeppelin raid many aviators were ordered to go up and 75 per cent, were killed, many machines being smashed." DEATH OF LIEUT. AIMER. Received June 24, 7 p.m. London, June 24. At the inquest on Lieutenant Vernon Aimer, evidence was given that his machine suddenly swerved, wobbled, and crashed down vertically. A verdict of accidental death was returned. [A Tendon cable of June 22 said: "Lieut. Vernon Aimer, of the Flying Corps, an Aueklander, fell fojjr hundred feet when Hying near London, and was killed."]
