NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.
The North Taranaki Hunt meet at Mr. H, Lepper's, Lepperton, on Thursday last, was one of the successes of the season. Mr. and Mrs. Lepper entertained a large number at luncheon, after which the hounds were thrown off just below the house and were not long is finding a hare that took the huntsmen for a merry run for about three miles 'iver forty fences, testing the the quality of the hunters to the utmost. Unfortunately, just after this splendid run, rain set in, and there was nothing for it but' to adjourn to the homestead, where Mrs. and Miss Lepper had a bountiful afternoon tea prepared. Mr. Hal-i-ombe, the master of the hunt, returned ■hanks to Mr. Lepper and the surrounding farmers, who had so kindly allowed their country to be bunted over, and Mr Lepper, in a neat little speech, responded. Mr. Lepper, although possibly very few of the present members and followers of the hunt know,, was the first president of what is now known as the North Taranaki Hunt, and to the old members it was very gratifying to meet at tiie homestead and renew old acquaintances and discuss old times.
