DOMINION TELEGRAMS.

«• _ PATRIOTIC' FUNDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. » At a meeting of the Advisory Board of the Federation of New Zealand Patriotic War Relief Societies to-day a resolution was passed that if the-Govern-ment accepts a man with more than five children for service the Government should pay an allowance for the extra children, and if the Government is.not ■prepared: to pay such allowance it sljould not accept such soldier. Regarding the disposition of the £3OOO per month' for wounded soldiers, it was decided that the Minister of Defence be asked to furnish a quarterly statement showing how the money is being spent in England. Legislative proposals dealing with subjects aifecting soldiers are being discussed. WAIKATO SANATORIUM. Hamilton, Yesterday. As a result, of what they considered unreasonable treatment at the Waikato .Sanatorium, seven returned soldiers left the institution. The administrator of the institution, they allege, was so severe that life became almost unbearable. Games were largely prohibited, and the cards which the men used were seized, although there was no gambling. The climax was reached when one-of the soldiers, for walking with n lady in the grounds, was practically placed' in solitary confinement. The men's complaints met with no redress, 'and they state they were cither ignored or received with abuse. They were therefore forced to take other steps to meet the arbitrary treatment they were subjected to and in consequence left the insitution. On their arrival at Cambridge they communicated with Major Northcroft, O.C. of the Group, and supplied him with a statement of their grievances. ' Major Northcroft arranged for the men to go to the Waikato Hospital, where they still are.
