Another instance has been brought under its notice which is even more noteworthy. Mr. William Rainham, of Mornington, went away with one of the early reinforcement drafts and gave his life for the cause, being killed in action some six months ago. A son of his was invalided back from GallipoM seriously wounded, and is now lying in the' Wellington Hospital, while another son was badly injured while training at Trentham, and is now doing light duty there. This is a record of sacrifice that is worthy of mention.
The interest in parliamentary proceedings and committee work has never been so great as this present session, states the member tor Taumarnmvi. The sitting accommodation for strangers has been taxed to the utmost and, to use the language of the theatrical fraternity, ''hundreds are refused admission nightly." Many of the soldiers in khaki attend, and are very much interested in the proceedings. A strange contrast to the crowded lady and gentleman strange'i galleries, is the paucity of attendance' of members, caused by those away at the front, those who have gone on the Parliamentary trip Home, and the number of members away ill, and who have had family bereavements this session.
