The Commodities Commission has authorised an increase of one halfpenny per pound for the choicest butter, and a penny for first and second grade' butters. t ' The weather is bitterly cold and wet. Advices have been received that six new 8000-ton steamers are being built in England for the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, for the Australian ana" New Zealand trade. The French Consul-General has issued orders that all French residents in Australia, from the ages of 18 to '4ft years, shall immediately undergo a medical examination, with a view to military service.
The Polish Relief Committee advises that £14,000, remitted from Sydney, has been held up in London, the British Government fearing that the money might be misused by the Gorman Government.
Denison's Eumaralla racing stud has been sold by auction. Fair prices were recorded.
