GERMANISING POLAND.
THE TEUTON'S GENTLE WAY. Zurich, April 20. The chief of the German police of Lodz, in Russian Poland, has issued a circular to the magistrates and advocates of the town inviting them to join the Bar of the German tribunals. If they do not obey the injunction they are forbidden to give legal advice to clients, under penalty of a fine of £4O. The magistrates, advocates, and baristers of Polish nationality have thereupon held a meeting and decided that as German has been substituted for Polish in the courts of law they would neither plead nor give legal advice. This is not the only evidence.that the Germanisation of Lodz has been decided upon. Everything is being done to faver German residents and immigrants at the expense of the Polish population. From letters received by Poles in Switzerland it appears that the Germans themselves make no secret of their intention to annex Lodz and the western portion of Russian Poland to Prussia.
