TARANAKI SUCCESSES.

In butter here are 111 entries. A remarkable feature is the paucity of exhibits from Taranaki, Midliirst factory alone beinrepresented, in two classes. This ma? be due to the fact that the local shows have usurped the interest of factories that formerly had to go abroad to seek competition. In the cheese competitions however, nearly half the entries hail horn South Taranaki, whilst North laranak., which has r.ew gone in largely f or cheese, has not one representative A good feature is the evenness of the ev.nhits in both classes, the prize list being well distributed. In butter, the principal prize winners are: Levi-, Taieri and Peninsula, Kairangu, Thames Valley, Mastcrtoh, Awahuri, Tai Tanu Canterbury Central, Shannon, ' In cheese, Kakaramea wins the championship, with one first, a second and four third prizes; Parkvale scored one first, two secoads, and a third; Cardiff, one first and a third; Riverdale, onfirst and a setfond. Box of whey butter.—Karamea Factory, 88} points, 1; Whakaronga, 86 points, 2. The only entries. Silver Challenge Cup and Silver Medallion, presented by Messrs. Keeps, Ttd., London, to exhibitor scoring the highest grade points in cither of Classes

Sixteen entries. The. gold medal for South Island factory scoring the most points was won by Taieri and Peninsula (Kaitangata.) THE SUPPLY OF RENNET. (By .Telegraph.—Special to Daily News.) Palmerston North, Last Night. The National Dairy Association, after considerable discussion decided to form a cooperative company for the manufacture of rennet, with a capital of £20,000. in £1 shares, one share to be taken up for every two tons of cheese manufactured. Messrs. Marx, Forsyth, Murdoch. Moss, Fisher,. Wise, and Allen were appointed :i Provisional Committee. The meeting was divided as to whether it was best to erect a factory in the Dominion or to send the veils Home, but it was unanimous in deciding it was nccesasry to take urgent steps to ensure a supply of rennet. A meeting of cheese factory delegates is beintr held this evening, in committee, to discuss, the ..proposals,.of the sale of cheese to the Government.
