INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Red Cross mart did excellent business again on Saturday. There was a splendid collection of pumpkins, cabbages, preserves, bread, cakes, etc., and everything was sold. The mart was presided over in the morning by Misses Hammerton and J. Esse, and in the afternoon by Mesdames Winflcld, Gow and J. Sutherland. Dairy herds are in great, demand at present. During the last week several local herds have been sold, and there are still buyers about. I understand that one lnglewood herd was sold on Saturday at the satisfactory price of £ls 15s per head. Mr. Newton King lias appointed a representative to take charge of his machinery and land departments in connection with the local business, and extensive alterations are, I understand, to be made to the present premises to enable full stocks to be carried. This enterprising gentleman evidently . intends making it unnecessary for the farmer to go out of the district for his; general requirements.
