A SPLENDID RESPONSE. 286,000 BY END OF JUNE, Melbourne, June 17. Mr. Pcarce, replying to questions fts to the possibility of honoring the Government'!) promise to provide 1100,000 troops by the end of June, stated that the Government did not promise 300,000 men, but they undertook to provide an additional 50,000, with reinforcements, which, calculating on the wastage at Gallipoli, would mean 286,000 men to the end of June. The reinforcement requirements had since been reduced, and the Government's promise had been completely fulfilled. They would have sufficient men to supply reinforcements to the end of June.
