I A Sydney message reports the death of Mr. William George John, general secretary of the Theosophical Society, and formerly of New Zealand. ' The death is announced of Mr. John Hamilton, of Matheson street, Wanganui, at the age of 83 The late Mr. Hamilton was very highly respected by ft wide circle of friends. He had resided in Wanganui for many years. A Dunedin telegram announces the death of Mr, William Barron, who was M.H.'R. for Caveralwm from 1879 till 18(10, and had occupied the position of Grand Master of the New Zealand Lodge oi 'Freemasons; He was 78 years of age. Mr. Percy Stainton, recently manager at Xew Plymouth for Messrs j. C. Spedding, is to be married next Wednesday, and will leave, with his bride, for America, in connection with the firm's business. He will sail from Auckland on the 2(Uh inst. by the Makura for Sydney, then going on to Melbourne and joining the Sierra for San Francisco. Cable advice has been received that Sergt. ,T. M. Hamilton was killed in action on June . r >. Sergt. Hamilton's death on the field of battle will be read with (lee)) sympathy by a large circle of friends The deceased, who was a leading builder nnd contractor in Wanganui, disposed- of his business in order to enlist. A sad coincidence connected with Sergt. Hamilton's death is that his aged father passed away on Sunday morning. The deceased leaves a widow and an infant daughter a few days old.
