IAX'XUiAL MEETING OF FITZROY CLUB. There wae a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Fitzroy Bowling Club at the pavilion on Thursday night, Mr. F. Jackson presiding. The president's report referred to the chief matches of the past bowling season, and mentioned that the singles championship of the club had been won by Mr. S. Smith, Mr. Heaiy being the runner up, while Messrs L. Cliivers and F. Bellringer won the championship pairs. Thanks were accorded to Messrs «os;j and S. Smith for the handsome trophies ( se t of bowls) for the latter event. Appreciation of the good work of the green narden (Mr. Healy), the caretaker (Mr. Ward) and the secretary (Mr. L. Oiivehs), also Mr. Price ■-(for use of room) and the press. Special praise .was given to Mr. 0. Oxenham for effecting considerable improvements on the croquet lawn, which'it was anticipated would be in first-class condition for the coming season. The report also recorded tile farewell tendered to Mr. Keid on hia leaving for camp, when a memento of the club's good wishes was given to Mr. Reid. Tlie balance-sheet ohov/cd receipts as £163 Oa fid and expenditure £1,39 JOs Id, including donation of £ll 8s -JOd to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Liabilities exceeded assets by £!) 2s 2d. The chairman stated that the expenditure. on the green had been heavier than in the previous year, but, thanks to the generosity of a number of members of the club, £l6 17s had been raised by voluntary donations. After some discussion the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The president then presented the trophies won by the members mentioned in the report, after which he presented the club with a framed photograph of the late Colonel Malone, who was president of the club in J 907-8, and was the means of putting its finances on a solid i -basis. This action of Mr. Jackson was highly appreciated, and he was tendered a hearty vote of thanks. " The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. F. Bellringer; vice-presi-dents, Messrs Oxenham, Dingle. McNeill and Healy; secretary, Mr. Chivers; auditor, Mr. Bennell; committee, Messrs Price, Abbott, Healy, Dingle and Allen • green warden, Mr. Healy; croquet committee, Messrs Oxenham (warden), Abbott and Ci. White; delegates to centre, Messrs Bellringer and Jackson; selector | Mr. Dingle, Messrs. Abbott and Healy to I assist on ordinary playing days. Mi. J. Bennett outlined a scheme for raising fund.-, and offered as a prize a watch valued at £5. He also offered a medal annually for the runner-up of the club's championship (to date hack , lrom last season) so long as he remained a member of the dub. Theso offers were accepted with thanks. The subscription for the coming season was fixed at two guineas, and that for croquet at one' guinea. Mr. Healy brought np tiic question of the banner matches, and after considerable discussion it was resolved that the delegates bring the matter before the centre, with ail expression of tile chili's opinion that the conditions under which these matches were now plaved failed to carry out the object for which they were instituted. At the suggestion of Mr. Healy, it was decided to place an honors board in the pavilion, Mr. 'Dingle and the presidentelect offering to provide same, for which the.v were thanked. Mr, McXeill's offer to donate a championship board was accepted with thanks. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing president, to the secretary and the committee for their past services; also to Messrs Goss and S. Smith for trophies, the lattev's services as green warden being also cordially recognised.
