COURSING.
TARANAKI MAIDEN STAKES. The first course of the season untie*the auspices of the Taranaki Plumpton Coursing Club took place at Glcnavon, Waiwakaiho, yesterday afternoon, when the first and seeom l rounds of the Taranaki Maiden Stakes, of were decided. There were twenty-seven entries, from all parts of Taranaki, and as the dogs were in good fettle, some line coursing was witnessed. The arrangements made by the officials were very complete, the secretarial department being in the capable hands of Mr. J. Jeiikiuson. The judge's box was occupied by Air. H. M. O'Connor, of Ellham, whose decisions were never questioned. Mr. R. Gardiner acted as slipper, a&d Messrs A. McGivcii, G. Matan. and I 0. Jones were the stewards.
