A French pioneer settler at Akaroa has had six sons fighting for France. One of them, after doing seven years of military service in France, returned to New Zealand and enlisted in the Third Reinforcements. *le was in the Marquette when she was torpedoed, and was in the water for nine hours. He had a leg broken and was invalided to New Zea" land. He is again going to France, and will join the French army. Of his brothers, two have been killed, one has lost a leg, and two are still in the fighting
