THE TRAMWAYS.
LAST WEEK'S TOTALS. Th tramways had a good week Just week. Tho number of passengers carried was 30,270 and the takings were £214 179 lOd. Details arc as follows:
Since the full service was opened the receipts have averages about £24 per day. This is mid winter. It is not too much to expect that the receipts will be 50 per cent, better in (he summer months when there are so ninny visitors to the town and when the 'benches are so much the vogue, /n average of under £3O a day will cover all expenses. Katepayers can therefore expect the tramways to cost them nothing after the first year's working, a truly satisfactory result. » '•
