HAWERA WINTER SHOW.
RECEXT ADDITION'S COMPLETE l>. The rapid growth of the Hawera Wintor Show la evidenced from a visit to the Show buildings, which a representative of this paper inspected on Sntjirdav. The Show was only inaugurated in 1010, and a concrete building was erected that at the time was, thought to be quit* large enough for all requirements, but the progressive policy adopted by ;tbe directors rendered the erection of an ad* ditional hall necessary in 11)18; and, now. in 1016, further additions have just been completed. The result is that the Winter Show Society nossesjes a magnificent structure, whloji is said to ; be the Jargest ferro-conercte show building in the Dominion. Tt has :i frontage of 205 ft with a depth of 2Roft. The new additions comprise a hall of 40ft by 280 ft, with an annexe for dogs and poultry. The new hall is intended especially for motor cars, and there is" »ri entrance lift wide from the main street. In the front of the. buildings are two new officeß (with a strongroom), for the use of the secretary, and also a large Board room, which can be used as a lecture hall during the Show. The annexe for the dogs and poultry i» fitted with permanent benches, a feature that very shows provide. The building extends from street to street, and the Borough Council have just formed and metalled the street at the back, and fcerbed and channelled the footpaths. All the partitions in the back portion of the hall are to be removed, and, the. side shows will v be accommodated there. Despite the amount ■of space available, it has been found impossible to give exhibitors all they have asked for. There are separate hall* for the machinery, tradesmen's display*. Government exhibit, dairy produce, side shows, tea rooms, motor cars, dogs, and poultry. Already a large staff is engaged on thS decoration of the Hall for t'e Show, under the direction of Mr. I-. 0. Hooker, who will again manage the function. The present alterations and additions have cost £SOOO, and were designed and carried out under the supervision of Mr. J. A. Dufflll. On Saturday afternoon, a number of directors from Taranaki cheese factories visited the building* at the invitation of the President (Vc D. J, Goodwim.
