THE WINTER SHOW.
THE CLOSING SCENES. Fine weather prevailed on Patnritny for the closing day of the show, as it had done throughout, and rw a result there was a crowded attendance, the takings at the gate being exceptionally good. Though the actual figures were not available, it is understood,that the total for the Show Will be slightly in excess of last year, which is remarkable when the great increase of membership is considered. The ladies of the Red Cross Society report having had a husv week, the fancy stall alone producing £7l and the produce stall £4.1 Os G'/ 2 d, a splendid result. The (lag, donated by Mrs. A. Ainbury to the former, realised £7 10s, and Mr. R, Cock, the winner, redonated it. A cake presented to the produce stall was won. by Mrs. Langman, and can be obtained on application to Mrs. Dockrill, opposite the Coronation Hall. The competitions for cushions, etc., were also decided, the winners being Mr. Duggan (Tataraimaka), Mr. Luckin (Tntaraimnka, Mrs. Grooby (Frank-ley Road), and Mrs. Hulke. The actual weight of the cow proved to be 800V£lb. Dr. Fookes and V- Gush, who each guessed 8001b, divide the two prizes.. H. iLett (Pungarehu) was next with 80iy 2 lb. During the. evening Messrs C. Fairbrother and L. A. Nolan were kept busy auctioning the gift poultry for the Society, and a miscellaneous collection of produce, etc., given by exhibitors to various patriotic funds. The president, secretary, and officials are to be congratulated on the success achieved, country members who were present expressing themselves as vwy pleased with the show.
