The defence pleaded that Colthouse's wounds received at Mons and the Aisne complicated his condition, and that he advanced in direct opposition to orders given him at Mons, showing that he was irresponsible and lacked self-control. Judgment was . reserved.

It has been decided to summon a conference of the Nationalist representatives of Ulster td consider Mr. Lloyd George's proposals. it is believed that Mr. Devlin has failed to induce the Nationalists to agree to the exclusion of the six counties. ULSTER UNIONISTS CONFER.
London, June 7. The Unionist Council's standing committee at Belfast are discussing Mr. Lloyd George's proposal to exclude Antrim, Down, Armagh, Londonderry, Tyrone and Fermanagh, leaving Donegal. Monaghan and Cavan under the Irish Parliament.
Sir E. Carson said he recognised the obligations under the Ulster covenant, hut if the representatives of the three committees waived the covenant the difficulty could be overcome. In view of the fact that the Home Rule Act was on the Statute Book, and was unlikely to he removed, they 'had to consider whether it might be advisable that the offer should be adjourned till Monday in order to enable the delegates of the three counties to meet their constituents. The council adjourned till Monday.
