DEATH FROM HEART FAILURE. By Telegraph;— Press Associ&tien. Auckland, June 5. A single man, Xavier Reeidhaar, 41 years of age, died suddenly at the residence of Mr. N. Amrein, at Taupaki, 011 Friday. An inquest was held before Mr. John George, J.P., of Waitakere, at 2 p.m. On Saturday. Dr. Meinhold, of Helensville, deposed that death was due to heart failure, and a verdict to this effect was returned. It was stated that deceased came from Switzerland to the Dominion about two years ago, and was engaged in farming for some time at Kaponga, in Taranaki. Five months ago he v • tlie victim of a paralytic stroke. .l. 1: was also a sufferer from asthma, and came north two months ago for the benefit of his health. He had no relatives in the Dominion. BOY DRAGGED BY HORSE. Foxton, June 5. Ernest Tozer, eight years of age, son of George Tozer, a farmer at Motuiti, was accidentally killed yesterday afternoon. He was sent to catch'a horse which had a long rope round its neck. The child presumably wound the rope round its body and was dragged. His neck and arm were broken and there was a large scalp wound. The trousers were found some distance from the body. JUMPED INTO A RIVER. Pahiatua, Yesterday. Richard Fulton, a single young man, who was accompanying a settler named Peter Olsen in a gig from Aohanga to Pongaroa, when approaching the long ford bridge, alighted and jumped into the flooded river. The body was recovered. SUICIDE USES DETONATOR. Wanganui, Yesterday. At the inquest 011 the body of a man named Charles Smith, the evidence showed that he committed suicide while under the influence of liquor, exploding a detonator in his mouth.
