HUNTING.

NORTH TARANAKI HOUNDS; The North Taranaki Hunt met at Mi Clifford's property, Sentry Hill, on Monday. The weather was mild and favorable for hunting, with the result that there was a large number of followers and spectators. Mr. Clifford and his neighbours had gone to a great deal of trouble in sparring the fences, and although there were not ihany runs, hares being scarce, a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Some considerable time was lost before a pussy was found, and hounds "chopped" this, but they worked much better afterwards, and later in the afternoon they were' in .full cry after a hare which went straight across country in the direction of Corbett Road. There were one or two spills, but on the whole the jumping was excellent. Subsequently the large company was most hospitably entertained by Mr. and Mrs, Clifford, and Mr. A. H. I-lalcombe, master, thanked Mr. and Mrs. Clifford for tl;eir hospitality, and also the surrounding fanners for allowing the hunt the use of their properties, i Cheers were given f(n- Mr. and Mrs. Cliflord and for the farmers. Mr/ Clifford responded and said he hoped when conditions were back to normal' to be able to entertain the members to a real old English hunt breakfast.

The hunt will fy>et at Mr. A. W. Budge's property, Inglewood, on Thursday.
