DISTRICT NEWS.
OKATO. . * (From a Correspondent), Or: Thursday evening last, a Leap Year Ball was held in aid of the Anzac Soldiers' Club in Xew 'Plymouth. The hall was beautifully decorated with punj-as and flags, including the Awac flag presented by the ladies of New Plymouth to the Club. Xnvor was Hempton Hall thronged with such a gav crowd of disciples of Terpsichore. All had apparently put aside their troubles and seemed lost in the gaiety of the moment.
The music, winch was supplied by Mrs. George, Mr. Parker, and Mr. Thomson, assisted by Mr. Barnet. and extras by Miss Ballot and Mr. Parker, was very much appreciated by the dancers. Misses Vincent, Roebuck, Sanson, and Mrs. Gnliver made excellent M.C.'s. During the evening Anzac buttons and badges were soTd by Misses Iliekford, Woolridge and Corbett by which £2 13s Cd was raised. Mrs. Guliver made an excellent door keeper, where she collected over £IG, making a total of £22 17s. After all expenses are paid there will be a balance of £lO. Private Plvmii. on behalf of the Anzac Club, thanked the ladies for the success they had attained. The committee desire to thank all those who helped to make the ball a success.
