THE WINTER SHOW.

OPENS TO-DAY. Yesterday was a very busy day at the Coronation Hall. Quite a large number of exhibits came, to hand and were duly placed in position by a hard-working band of stewards, with the result that the arrangements for this winter** show were well forward and everything should be in readiness for the opening this J'liose who have been connected with the show since its inception are of opinion that both from i the point of view of quality and number .of exhibits the show will be one o! ;i the most successful ever lipid here. Thj ■ committee have been unsparing ill their ,j efforts to ensure its success, and all that is wanting is fine weather to enable * the public to do its part and make the show o financial success. Undoubtedly there should be a record attendance, especially now that the trams bring the < hall within easy reach of the centre of . : the town. Sir. A. Tj. Humphries, secretary of : the Winter Show received a telegram yesterday evening from Hon. W. D. S. ifacdonaUl (Minister of Agriculture), saying that owing to urgent business in Wellington he will not be able to visit New Plymouth and open the Show this 1 afternoon. The opening function will : therefore be performed by Mi'. J, B. ■ nett, President of the Society. • "
