(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Yesterday The election of two members for the Education Board that will practically control the province of Taranaki. takes place on the Ifith inst. For Central Ward. Messrs. 11. Trimble, R. Masters, and W TT, Kennedy have definitely an notinced themselves, while it is more than probable that Messrs K. Marfell and F. Maekav will also bo candidates. The Stratford Borough Council occupied their new offices from yesterday. It will be some days before the Library and Reading Room will be transferred to the new buildings. The official opening of the new Municipal Buildings will take place on Thursday at 7..'10 p.m. The Ladies' Patriotic Committee are holding a social in the upstairs portion of the building the same evening. Forty delegates from the various School Committees in and around the Stratford district met in conference last evening, with the object of forming a branch of the Taranaki School Committees' Association. Mr. S. 0. Smith (chairman of the New Plymouth committee), and Mr. 0. H. Dolby addressed *he delegates on the advantages of forming an Association. It was decided to form a branch, and the 'ollowing officers were elected: President, Mr. ,T. W. McMillan; vice-president, Mr. R. A. Brickell; committee, Messrs. F. Maekay, W. T. Mills, F. -I. McDonald, C. 11. Lawn; secretary and treasurer, Mr. U. H. Boeock.
At the Holy Trinity Church this morning, Miss K. Whishaw was married to Mr. .J. Barnard, of Palmei'ston North. The Rev. C. W. Howard officiated at the ceremony.
