In the House of Commons Mr. Tennant stated that when the Military Service Act' was fully working every man would have the job foi which he was best fitted. It was not possible to draw on the population of India for the creation of soldiers. It was a question largely of officers, and it was almost impossible to send officers from England to take charge of Indian troops. A similar difficulty applied to Africa. It Mr. Churchill read the foreign press lie would see that the Germans would be pleased at the idea or Britain resorting to colored troops, as indicating that we were near the end of our tether. IMPORTS RESTRICTED. : London, June 2. The importation of matches, beer, leather articles, gloves, sewing machines and stoves is prohibited, except under Board of Trade license.
