AMERICAN BARQUENTINE SINKING San Francisco, June 2. i The American barquentine Thrasher, b<mnd for Sydney, Australia, with * iCargo of explosives, is reported sinking off the coast. The fate of the crew of twelve men is unknown. UNKNOWN VESSEL WRECKED, Nelson, June 3. The scow has not yet been identified, but there is every reason to believe that she is'the Southern Isle. She was observed upside-down off Farewell Spit. The Isle left Puponga for Picton on Sunday with a load of coal. There is no trace of the crew of five, who were composed of Captain Gibson, A. Foster (engineer)-, A. Monteath (A.8.), the cook ,and a boy. A party left Nelson for the scene of the wreck to-day.
