Two postal officials, Hughes and McCartney, were con» veying £2,000 to pay the workmen at the new post office in Spencer Street. Three men, armed with revolvers, rushed up in a motor-car, threw pepper in. the officials' faces, and struck MoCartew a. severe Mo\? on the head. McCartney jg in hospital, but - his injuries are not serious. ■ Another sensation is reported from Abbottsford. Gorman, the postmaster, ' drow two hundred pounds from tii* tank to pay soldiers.
