a. ■ - ■■■. A FAMOUS TRAWLER. * THE KING STEPHEN. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, May 29. The Daily Mail tells a story af tha skipper of the famous trawler King Stephen. The skipper caught a German submarine sinking a helpless ship. Several Qf the German seamen were on the submarine's superstructure. The King Stephen hailed shells and hit the submarine, one German's leg being shot off. The submarine began to sink, upon which the skipper of the King Stephen swam to the enemy vessel and saved the wounded man. (The King Stephen was the trawler which would not risk taking more than twenty Germans off a Zeppelin wreck floating in the North Sea. The Germans claimed that they captured the vessel during the naval raid on Yarmouth.) SUEZ CANAL TRADE. STEAMSHIP AMALGAMATION. Times and Sydney Sun Servies. Received May 30, 5.5 p.m. London, May 29. The Suez Canal report fo 1915 shows that a total net tonnage passed through of 15,266,000, a decrease of over four million tons. The London docks return for the financial year ending March 31st shows the total imports and exports were nearly 3,700,000 tons, an increase of over half a million. The Cunard and Ellerman lines have purchased the Watson-Mediterranean line. The Cunard recently took over the Canadian Northern Railway Steamers, besides arranging to amalgamate witli the Commonwealth and Dominion Line.
