THE SEVENTEENTH REINFORCEMENTS.

DEPARTURE FOR CAMP. The New Plymouth quota for the Seventeenth Reinforcements, as well as the non-commissioned officers for the Nineteenths, left for camp by the mail tram yesterday morning and were given a public farewel, but owing to the very inclement weather there was not a very large attendance of the public at the railway station. The men assembled at the old Drill Hall at half-past six, and then proceeded ,ito the Women's Patriotic Rooms in St. Aubyn Street, where tea, kindly provided . by the Mayoress, was dispensed. Before entraining, the Mayor (Mr. C. H. Burgess), on behalf of. the town and districts, spoke a few words of farewell to the departing recruits, for whom three hearty cheers were given. The Citizens' Band, under Mr McLeod, gave several fine selections, the train drawing out to the accompaniment of cheers and the playing of "Auld Lang Syne." INGLEWOOD'S QUOTA. i Tlie following recruits were paraded at the Inglewood station yesterday , morning previous to entraining for the camp:—Messrs. B. Hunt, 1!. Hunter, G. Capper, A. J. Taylor, C. .). Randall, : Ward, R. A. Houslow, Randrupp, and L. Bishop. His Worship the Mayor presented each man A'ith the usual pa reel, saying a few words of encouragement while so doing. The men were ■ dispatched on their journey with cheers from their friends and well-wishers on f the platform. \ ELTHAM'S QUOTA.
