N.P. LOAN AND INVESTMENT SOCIETY.

—so. _ ANNUAL MEETING. The fortieth annual meeting of the New (Plymouth Loan and Investment Society was held at the office of the secretary (Mr. C, S. Rennell) yesterday afternoon, Mr. J. B. Connett (chairman of directors) presiding. The annual report, which was adopted, pointed out that although there had been a great advance in the price of all building materials, owing to the war, there had been a slight increase in the business of the society during the year. The retiring directors, Messrs T. Furlong and W. F. Brooking, were reelected, and Messrs C. F. Foote and H. Stocker were re-appointed auditors. Votes of thanks were accorded the directors, who were abo voted the usual honorarium. A vote of thanks was also accorded to Mr, J. S. McKellar, for his services as auditor during the past 38 years, and regret was expresed that ill-health compelled his retirement.
