1 - tm . TRAMWAYS COMMITTEE. , < , A meeting of the Borough Council . Tramways Committee was held last night. Present: Mr. C. H. Burgeas ; (Mayor), Crs. A. E. Watkins, J. T. Man, nix, S. Smith, F. J. Hill, W. F. Short, W. A. Collis, A. H. Johnstone, F. KL Wilson, J. Hayden, and J. S. S. Medtey. A petition by 53 residents, asking for a request stop near the Breakwater Hotel was received.—The Council reregretted that it was unable to accede to the request. . It was resolved to recommend ttrj Works Committee to place an electrli light at the tramway terminus at to" Breakwater. WORKS COMMITTEE. The Council then met as a Works Committee, the same members being present. The plans of proposed work on Chilmaii Street were approved, subject to being modified so as to come within the loan money. The contractors for the A.M.P. building were granted permission to enclose portions of the footpath in Egmont and Devon Streets during the erection of the building. It was resolved to do kerbing in Tisch, Avenue as requested by the Kawaroa Park Committee. The Council resolved to appoint a committee to confer with the High School Board relative to the diversion of the storm water from Avenue Road. The engineer was authorised to do maintenance work on Avenue Road, Cameron, Elliot, Victoria, and Courte-. nay Streets. The Citizens' Band were granted permission to take up collection outside tile Park gates next Sunday. —■—»
