MOKAU HARBOR.
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD.
A special meeting of the Mokau Harbor Board was held on the 15th- inst. Present: Messrs S. Whitehead (chairman), W. D. Black, G. H. Lake, J. R. Tiri'ill, A. G. Sampson and J, McXeice. The following resolutions were carried:—
"That the Board is prepared to take over the control of the extended river limits to that point known as Purdie's Landing, and to read-just the ridings to give special representation to those liable to come under a special rating scheme, and take control of clearing the :iver for traffic, on the understanding of the conditions arrived at between the Minister of Marine and deputation of various bodies am! settlers at Waitara on Mav 0, 1910."
"That a rating area he defined and classified as A., B. and C." ''That in the event of a rate being struck A area be liable for the clearing of obstructions above steamer limits; that A and B bear equal rate and C half rate for the clearing of any obstruction between steamer limits and mouth of river, the said rate to carry the usual Government subsidy."
"That the boundaries of the Awakino riding be altered to the boundaries of C and A areas north of the Mokau river, with one representative; that the boundaries of Tongaporutu riding be altered to the boundaries of C and A area south of Mokau river, with one representative; that B and C be constituted a riding with three representatives; that A area be constituted a riding, with two representatives; that the Mokau riding 'be abolished."
