THE KIEL CANAL. A MINE-FIELD LAID. Eeoeived May 23, 10.20 p.m. Copenhagen, May 23. The newsppaer Politiken reports that a Danish steamer was stopped by .a German submarine commander, who stated that a mine-field had been laid from Sehmart to the Danish waters south of Langeland, in order to close the entrance to the Kiel Canal.
LOSS OF THE TUBANTIA. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, May 22. Germany's unsatisfactory explanation of the inking of the Tubantia Dias Rreatly angered the Dutch press. The Tyd says "the ways of the German torpedoes arc more mysterious than those of :Providence." The Dutdh Government docs not intend, to allow the matter to drop. SEVERAL VESSELS SUNK. The steamer Longuenoe was submarined in the Mediterranean, the crew being saved. The Germans took the captain prisoner 'ibecause the vessel resisted when attacked.
