PERSONAL.

A telegram from Rotorua says that the Governor left there for Wellington yesterday. Mr, A. R. Thompson, late purser of the R.M.S. Niagara, who is widely known in New Zealand, is now a platoon sergeant in the 13th Reinforcements. He was a survivor of the wreck of the Penguin and also of the Kawatiri, which was lost off the coast' of Tasmania. Mr. Thompson landed with a raft from the Penguin, and was much exhausted owing to the raft capsizing several ttmes. Captain J. Gage Williams,"of the 19th Royal Hussars, "Queen Alexandra's Own," who was recently appointed aide-de-camp to His Excellency the Governor, tl o Earl of Liverpool, arrived at Auckland from England by, the Remuera. Captain Williams was with his regiment on the western front for a period of eight months, He received a bullet wound in the side of the head, resulting in his being invalided to England. Soon afterwards he received his new appointment, the duties of which iie will take up some time in June.

On March 27th, at St. Mary Abbott's Church, Kensington, London, the marriage took place very quietly, on account (■f the war, of Robert Wondhouse, Machine-gun' Section, 18th Infantry, Australian Imperial Force, to Miss Mary Frances Walton, daughter of BrigadierCeneral F. J. Anderson and Mrs. Anderson, of' 4 Trebovir Road, Earl's Court. Vhe bridegroom formerly resided in New l'lymouth, and is the son of the late Mr. (.i-'orge Wood house. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Prebendary !-'omersct E. Pennefather, vicar. The death occurred at Auckland on Friday of Mr. Job Coldicutt, a wellknown and highly respected resident, who has lived in Auckland for just on three-quarters of a century. Mr. Coldicutt was born in Birmingham 77 years ago, and reached Auckland with his parents in May, 1842. He was farming at Epsom in .1803, when he volunteered for service in the Maori War, but was invalided from camp. Later lie was for many years on the stall' of Messrs. Owen and Graham, merchants, and with Messrs. Wm. McArthur and Company till that firm gave up their Auckland bustl)C&S,
